Reflection 2015

WALT:

a. Write a quality reflection that shares my journey this year.  This includes reflection upon the years ahead.

How do you feel about this year?

At the beginning of the year I was a bit nervous. Then in term 2 and 3 I felt more comfortable being a senior because I knew everybody and was used to the morning routines. Now in term 4 I am feeling a bit sad because the Yr8’s are leaving.

What did you find especially satisfying this year?

Still having my same friends from year 6 and also making and meeting new friends. Another thing was that I trusted my home class teacher Mrs Tele’a.

What did you find especially frustrating/difficult this year?

Staying organised like charging my netbook every night and making sure I have pencils to do my work with. Another thing I found frustrating/difficult was finishing my work on time.

If you were to to give yourself a grade out of 10 - 10 being awesome…what would you grade yourself? Why?  I would give myself a 7 because I think this year I have become more confident and have learned more in maths like about pi, Algebra and much more.

In what ways did you contribute to team 5 in 2015?

I made and purchased a cake to help fundraise for our trips.I also came in to help sell food at the garage sale in term 1.

What would you change for yourself in 2016?

I would try to finish my work on time

What might you want next year’s teacher to know about you (things you’re good at)?

That I like to do art and design and create things.

What things might you want more help with?

Maybe art or maths.

What could you show your teacher from your blog to help her/him understand those things?

my thinkboards or my presentations.

I really enjoyed this year I enjoyed my classmates, our trips and espically my teachers. Thank you so much and all the best for the year 8's next year.

The warehouse visitors

This morning two workers named Gurpreet and Ellie from the warehouse come in and kindly gave us a check of 1094.46 dollars that's right 1094.46 but before we get into that I’ll tell you about our welcoming. We welcomed them by doing a mihi and karakia we also sang a waiata.

They had a surprise for our principal Mr burt and it was that he got the award for Community hero he got his own certificate to prove and a 500 dollars gift card.

One of our student Josephine said a thank you speech to the all of the warehouse for their generosity. Because did you know that they also help to pay for some of our trips and camps.

So thank you Warehouse for all of your help along the way we really appreciate it.

Extension reflection

This year is coming to an end and so is extension. This is my second year being in extension and in this year in extension we have done so many things here are some of my highs from this year in extension.

Going on trips like Tiritiri matangi island and Maritime museum and being apart of the Malama Honua welcoming and skype ing them in Hawaii also being apart of the 20 hour famine.

Bioengineering

We were learning about bioengineering in extension and we made a presentation to show what we have learned and to show how we would increase humans to Superhuman. Google expedition

Yesterday wasn’t a normal Tuesday because that morning we had the opportunity to take part in a google expedition. I was in the first group and we got given a piece of cardboard with a phone in it this was called a google cardboard. All of the phones inside were controlled by an ipad which means the person controlling the ipad gets to choose what place you're going to see next. We placed it over our eyes and on the phone it read waiting for teacher. 
Because Mr Clark hadn’t started the program yet.

All of a sudden POW we were in the Borneo rain forest accompanied by David Attenborough and some other people we were near a cave that was pitch black inside. Mr Clark paused the screens again and asked us “Do you wanna go some where different?” We all answered back “YES”. 

 The next place we visited was a forest we were surrounded by lots of trees and leaves. Mr Clark gave us a challenge to try spot the python Ahhh it was on the ground right next to me I zoomed in on it to take a closer look. It was time to head to the next place.

 We were all excited about these google card board , the last place we visited was outta space it was so cool I saw the moon,the sun,galaxy the earth and more we could also see the earth's atmosphere. I would like do this again. I also think that this will help people in the future to learn more about the earth and animals.

Amazing race test writing

At Pt england school on the 27th of october 2015. All of team 5 had a fun time. What is this fun time you ask? Well all the students got into groups and we all did challenges and played game this event was called the AMAZING RACE. The reason we did this was because all our teachers thought that we have all worked hard this year and wanted to give us a treat.

My group members where Brooklyn, Melenoa, Taunese, April and Paige. Our First activity was the Brain bust in this activity we had to answer and solve all the questions that got given to us.I found the questions tricky. One of the questions where what was the ancient egyptian invention that allowed people to see through walls? Luckily me and my friend Taunese figured it out it was windows. In no time we had to switch to the next activity.

Our next activity was Photo booth this activity was organist by my teacher Mrs Tele’a. For this event you had the task of dressing up and taking a happy photo,a serious photo and a crazy photo. Me and some of my other group members wore blue afro wigs for some reason they reminded me of the 70’s and the song YMCA.This was my favourite activity because we got to have lot’s of fun in dressing up and making different facials.

Up next was Cookie face this was a old time game where you had to bend your head back and place a cookie on your forehead and the aim of the game was to get the cookie in your mouth the fastest without using your hands all you had to do was use the muscles in your face to push it down into your mouth. Sadly I didn’t get it in my mouth but I was really close.

After Cookie face it was time for pea pipes this was our last task and in it we had to get most of the peas from one bowl to the other bowl across the court. Their was a trick though we had to suck the peas up from a straw to carry them across to the other bowl. To win this you had to be the team that got the most peas to the other bowl. This incident was sure to be a race against time. In a blink of an eye It was over.

I thought It was a good way to cooperate as a team and to test our teamwork skills.I hope that we get to do another thing like the fun time again.

Superman

In class today we where looking into Superman and his History. If you didn't know allready Superman is one of the most famous Superheros in all time. One of Superman's adaptations was that he had to change his poster. We got given these questions to answer here are mine.Here is a link to a youtube clip about Superman

SUPERMAN HISTORY

• Man of steel...red underwear or blue underwear?   Why did it change?

They wanted a more slicker look

• Krypton - what is it?

Krypton is the planet that Superman was born on and a Chemical It’s also a group of 18 elements.

• Why was it important to Superman?  

Because it’s his home planet

• What part did Superman's parents have in his survival?

When their planet was under attack they saved superman by sending him to planet earth

• Original powers?   Did he fly in the beginning?

No

• What changed in term of his super powers?

He began to fly

• Daily planet - his workplace...how does he adapt between his human workplace and being a superhero?

He changes his poster and his voice, he also changes his clothes.

Immersion Assembly Term 4

Here at Pt england school we’ve started off the term with a big Immersion assembly. At this Immersion assembly all the teachers made a skit or movie informing their students about what their going to be learning this term.

 The Topic this term is SURVIVOR and how to outwit,outsmart and outlast

 First up was Team 1 The teachers and kids this term will be going to the zoo and learning more about different animals and their species. Then it was Team 2 and 3’s turn, their going to be learning more about Dinosaurs and some will be creating their own Dinosaurs. Team 4 made a movie involving students from their class all they told their students was that they have to guess what animal was behind them and in what habitat except that they couldn’t see the animals behind them cause they used green screen and sound effects. A lot of the kids gave funny answers like this one girl venetia she was in the sea and she thought she was in candyland and she thought the animals behind her was a unicorn.

 Then Team five came out they did a little skit where all the teachers were contestants on a show named Survivor, Mr Wiseman was the host for the show. They had to do a competition they had to see who called eat a plate of noodles with chopsticks the quickest. Miss Clark won after she said how easy it was because she grew up in Asia and some of the other contestants like Miss Peato and Miss Miseala were saying how it wasn’t fair because in their countries Samoa and Tonga they don’t use chopsticks they use their hands. 

Overall I am kind of excited for this terms topic I hope it’s really fun, My goals for this term is to be more active/healthy and to be kinder to people I hope I can stick to these goals.
