Olympics

Today My class and I registered for this site named Winter learning journey. Where we get to do activity. We had to imagine ourselves back in time in 2792 at the Olympic games. We had to choose a sport out of Running, Wrestling, Boxing, Pankration, Horse racing, Pentathlon. I choose the diaulos Running.  There were 3 levels

The stade – a sprinting race. The athletes ran from one side of the stadium to the other.

The diaulos  –  a middle distance race. The athletes ran two lengths of the stadium.

The dolichos – an endurance race. The athletes ran approximately 20 lengths of the stadium

The diaulos looked like the easiest because I wouldn't have to sprint and lose my energy that fast but I would have had to run two lengths of the stadium rather then
1 side to the other.

  1. Hi Ariana,

Welcome back to the holiday blogging programme! It is so great to have you re-join the journey this year. I really enjoyed reading your post and I think that you have put a lot of thought into your choice of sport. I think that the diaulos would be the perfect event for you! I, too, would have chosen a running event as I am not a great wrestler/boxer and I enjoy going out running with my son. Unfortunately, he is much faster than I am so I end up spending most of the time chasing him! It is a great way to stay healthy and fit, though, I must admit!

I hope that you are able to get outside this holiday and enjoy the fresh air as well as find time to log on and blog!

    All the best, Rachel

  2. Hi Ariana,

I really enjoyed reading your post. I read Rachel's comment, and I agree that the diaulos would be great for you. I would've chosen the dolichos, as two lengths seems too small for me to get a good result.

    Keep it up!
    Iisa

    1. It's interesting to read that you would have preferred the dolichos race, Iisa. It sounds like you are more of an endurance athlete than a sprinter. Do you ever compete in an athletics competitions at Selwyn?

      Cheers, Rachel :)
